Problem Statement:
Few chairs allow the user to manipulate the legs and arms to the point of transforming it into a totally different piece of furniture.
Solution:
Design a chair that can be adapted to become a stool or table.
I initially went with a concept for a collapsible as well as stackable chair.
I intended this for church services and weddings
Research

Church pew prototypes made of foam core and held together with rubber bands

Ideation
After discussing my stackable concept with my professor, he recommended trying something simpler.
My second concept consisted of an interlocking chair which links to other chairs to make a stool, table, or bench.

Prototypes
The prototype for my second concept used wooden dowels and foamboard to make interlocking chair legs.

My final model consisted of foamboard and thin styrene sheets. My professor and I refined my chair down to simply a base with detachable legs that could still transform into a chair or a stool.
